Postal Strike in UK

We have arrived at that point when Unions are needing to justify their existence. Faced with people asking themselves why they pay union fees and what value they are getting for it, the Union needs to be seen to do something.

This strike is not about any grievance with management, it is about saving their position. They have returned to old style thinking that will ultimately be their death and continue to undermine business at the same time.

Unions need to re-invent themselves and find their niche in the market place. They can add value, but they don’t know how to do it in a modern world

What a great shame!

I’ve been saying this for years Paul. I work with a lot of manufacturing organisations and most of them now no longer even have unions but the ones that do, for the most part are still stuck in the 50′s and 60′s. They could have become mediators or negotiators, they could have become coaches and mentors, they could have become facilitators or advisors – they became NONE of these things – and agree – they are the Masters (and Mistresses) of their own eventual demise…ann

Yes, that is true, I agree with you, but I am not sure if there are no other options.
